Performance and Fuel Economy. The Camry’s powertrains will likely carry over into 2019. The 2018 Camry’s engine options include the base 203-hp (206 hp in the XSE trim) 2.5-liter I-4 engine and the optional 3.5-liter V-6 that pumps out 301 hp. Both engines are backed by an eight-speed automatic that routes power to the front wheels. The 2018 Camry Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter I-4 paired with two electric motors for a total system output of 208 hp, though the 2019 Avalon’s version of this tech is good for 215 hp. For 2018, fuel economy figures for the non-hybrids ranged from 22/32 mpg city/highway in the V-6 to 29/41 for the I-4. Camry Hybrid fuel economy numbers range from 44/47 to 51/53 mpg depending on trim level.
